Nadhadweepam Sangeetha Gurukulam

Established in the year 1998, Nadhadweepam Sangeetha Gurukulam was commenced as the first initiative of the Trust towards its objective in the promotion of Carnatic music. Having trained around 1000 students since its inception, the Gurukulam is at present having strength of about 100 students both within India and abroad. The Gurukulam has involved the most proficient Faculties in training students from age 7 to 25 under both Vocal and Instruments such as Violin, Flute and Mrudangam. The Gurukulam is also organising Online Classes through Internet.

The Gurukulam also conducts Annual Examination for its Students and gives them the Certificate of Merit under different Grades. Under the scheme of Human Resource Centre for Non-formal Education, the students of the Gurukulam had been given Certificates of Proficiency by Padmavibhushan Dr. K.J. Yesudas in 2002.

The Students of the Gurukulam have participated in various music competitions conducted in Inter-school, College, Sangeetha Sabhas competitions and won many prizes.They are also giving musical performances in various sabhas.

The Gurukulam has also organised Special Summer Camps for its students by inviting various prominent musicians such as Neyveli Sri R.Santhanagopalan, Sri N.Vijay Siva, Smt. Champa Kalkura as Guest professors. It has also conducted a Lec-Dem on Pancha Bhootha Kshethra Krithis of Sri Muthuswami Dikshithar.

The Quiz programmes were also conducted during 2001, 2002 and 2003 by Shri. Ganapathy Subramanian.

Audio library and Book library which comprises information on eminent veterans was inaugurated in 2001. Also, Lecture demonstration was organised in 1999 and 2003 which were hosted by Dr. Lakshmi of Trivandram and Veena vidhwan Karaikudi Shri Subramanian.

Anniversary Celebrations And Music Festivals

The Nadhadweepam Trust, with a dream to nurture the young talents, has instituted a brand for musical competition “Swaraarnavam” from year 2011 in which musical learners, between ages 10 to 25, participate to showcase their talents. The competition is conducted at three different levels – Sub-junior, Junior and Senior. The selection of winners at senior level is done by panel of 9 Judges which is a first of its kind in a music competition. The Trust gives an opportunity to perform for the Winners at senior level during its Anniversary celebrations each year.
